Privacy Policy — Acedemy
Last updated: September 17, 2026
This policy explains what Acedemy (acedemy.app) collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers students and the parents or guardians who set up their accounts.
Short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a study app — what you answered and how you're progressing. We don't sell data, we don't run ads, and we don't ask children for personal details we don't need.
1. What we collect
If you use Acedemy without an account
- Your answers, progress, streak, and settings — stored on your device and in an anonymous record on our server that is not linked to any name or email.
- Basic technical data your browser sends (device type, language, approximate region from IP).
If you create an account
- Email address — from Google sign-in, Apple sign-in, or the sign-in link you requested. This is how we identify your account and contact you.
- Name and profile picture — only if your Google or Apple account provides them at sign-in.
- Everything in the anonymous list above, now linked to your account.
Study data (this is most of what we hold)
- Which questions you saw, what you answered, whether it was right, how long you took, which level you're on, your practice days, and which explanations you opened.
What you tell us during setup
- Which test you're preparing for, your grade level, roughly when your test is, and your daily goal. You can skip or change these.
If you subscribe
- Our payment processor handles your card. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record that your account has an active subscription and its plan and dates.
What we do NOT collect
- No home address, phone number, school name, or photos.
- No advertising identifiers, no ad networks, no cross-site tracking.
- No microphone, camera, contacts, or location access.
2. Why we use it
- To run the app: show the right questions, track your level, keep your streak, sync across devices.
- To build your progress screen and the parent report.
- To fix errors in questions and explanations.
- To send you a sign-in link when you ask for one, and to send billing and service notices if you subscribe.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not use your study data to sell you third-party products, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
3. Children under 13
Acedemy is intended for children under 13 only through a parent- or guardian-managed account. We ask for a parent or guardian to be the account holder, and only an adult may purchase a subscription.
- We collect from a child only what the app needs to teach: answers, progress, and practice history. We do not ask children for their address, phone number, school, or photo.
- We do not show ads to anyone, and we do not use children's data for marketing.
- We do not knowingly allow a child under 13 to create an account on their own. If we learn that happened, we delete the account and its data.
- A parent or guardian may at any time ask to see what we hold about their child, correct it, or have it deleted, and may refuse further collection by deleting the account. Email juoh84@gmail.com.
4. Parent reports — please read
A parent report opens through a private link that works without signing in. That is deliberate, so a parent can view it easily — but it means anyone holding the link can see the student's progress.
- Share the link only with people you want to have it.
- The link shows practice progress and estimated performance. It does not show an email address or payment details.
- You can ask us to invalidate a link at any time and we will issue a new one.
5. Who we share with
We share only with the services that make the app work:
| Who | What they get | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (database and sign-in) | Account and study data | Stores your data and runs sign-in |
| Vercel (hosting) | Requests to the site | Serves the app |
| Google / Apple | The fact that you signed in | Only if you choose that sign-in method |
| Paddle (payment and merchant of record) | Your payment details | Only if you subscribe; we never see your card |
| Email provider | Your email address | To send sign-in links and service notices |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
6. Where data is stored
Our database is hosted in Seoul, Republic of Korea. If you use Acedemy from another country, your data is transferred to and stored in Korea.
7. How long we keep it
- Account data: while your account exists.
- Study data: while your account exists — progress is the point of the product.
- Anonymous (no-account) data: up to 12 months of inactivity, then deleted.
- Billing records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- After you delete your account: we remove your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law.
8. Your choices
You can, at any time:
- See what we hold about you or your child.
- Correct it.
- Delete your account and its data.
- Take it with you — ask for a copy in a machine-readable file.
- Withdraw consent by deleting the account.
- Turn off memory of a device's local progress by clearing your browser data (this does not delete an account).
Email juoh84@gmail.com and we will act within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the EEA/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA, or Korea under PIPA) you may have additional rights; we honor these requests regardless of where you live.
9. Security
Sign-in is handled by Supabase Auth. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, and database rules restrict each account to its own rows. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
10. Cookies and similar storage
We use browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember settings such as theme, language, sound, and your local progress. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
11. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
12. Contact
juoh84@gmail.com — questions, data requests, and parent or guardian requests about a child's data.
